I have spoke with the dlr about this and apparently it can be re-wired to light both headlights but this apparently stuffs up the fuel injection and makes it idle badly. Also it is meant to void any warranty. Does anyone have advice or have already had this done to their Blade?????? |

Just another thing...when i had my 98' CBR 900RR the firts R1's never left me behind...in trips of plus 300 Kmh i never saw a R1 passing by me...some tried to maintain my rythim for a while, but only for 2 ou 3 minutes in a 1:30h trip,if the 98'CBR 900RR did that imagine now the new CBR's 1000RR...that are much better... |

I wonder why yamaha R1 owners always say that they're bikes are better...they couldn't be wronger!! R1 has a great engine but it's a very dangerous bike, it simply cannot handle all that HP they have...and the results of that aspect are terrible...lot's of ppl died here on my country whith R1's because of the instability of the bike...
Honda's CBR's are quiet diferent...now with an engine that very few can outdone and with it's impecable capacity of control...it really is much better of controling, so smooth and so quick...i'm very hapy with it!!
Once again i tell you to watch the SBK races...and you'll see the real performance of all bikes without mistakes... |

As far as a speeding ticket on a CBR1000RR at 205 !!! It Isn't POSSIBLE... If you own this bike then you know that it is governed by a speed controller within the computer. There is no way around it unless you are willing to modify the computer system, which would cost around $10,000. All the Japanese manufacturer have written many publication on limiting the speed in which all Sports Bikes will achieve. Current all the manufacturers have decided no street bike will surpass 187 mph... Sorry guys, but it is printed literature straight from the manufacturer... |

But by round two in Australia, homeboy Vermeluen was on the podium. At round four,he blew through the monza speed trap at 194 mph-the fastest clocking in World Superbike history.Impressed? So was ten Kate.In fact, according to the team's own data-adqusition software, the the CBR went even faster.Ten Kate Racing (TKR)registered an even 200 mph and this we say again,on a heavilytweaked streetbike." |

I'm skeptical of the accuracy of the timing method. Using a stopwatch on a quarter mile, each 1/10 of a second reaction time equates to roughly 5mph of the calculated speed. The cop could have easily been a couple tenths off. |

Then tell the kid to go to court and fight the ticket because there is no way he was going 205. I've had a race tuned '04 954 on a 10 mile straight and there was nothing beyond 189, and that's if you believe the speedometer is giving you an accurate reading at that speed. In most cases the speedometers read in the range of 10mph faster when you push theese speeds. IF, by chance he had some serious modifications done to his bike and could get the bike going that fast, there is no way he had the room to get it maxed out on Hwy 61. |

Yoshimura RS-5 Vs. Micron PCH81 for the 2004 CBR 1000 RR
I like the yoshi personally since I go way back from my GS 750 suzuki days, however the more I take a look at the Micron the more slick it looks for this CBR1000RR bike. They Micron costs a little bit more but in regards to looks which one you all think takes the gold medal?. [:]DUNNO[/:]
Here are some pictures from both Micron and Yoshi. [:]THUMBSUP[/:]

I'm a Suzuki type of guy but I purchased a CBR 1000 RR on July 29. I'm very surprised at how well this bike responds. I've owned the Gsxr 1000 and the R1, I wouldn't say the CBR is better out of the box but with a pipe and power commander this bike is hell. This past Sunday I did my break in ride of about 250 miles, changed the oil and started getting in the throttle alot. I race my friend on his 04 Gsxr 1000. He got me off the line but I past him with ease. Take into account that this bike is not fully broken in. I never thought Honda would do something like this but they did and I'm shocked. I'm ordering the Micron Serpent exhaust and a Power commander. |

i've noticed these bikes do really well with just a power commander as two of my buddies have done and they are pretty quick as well |

My buddies hit 168.9 on the dyno at Mid-ohio. He has a serpent full system and a power commander, thats it. I was pretty impressed. That was more than any zx-10! Gsxr1000's with pipes were doing 147 on the same dyno same day. |

I purchased my RR on the 30th of March, it now has over 5,000 miles on it and with the few mods I've done, It just keeps getting stronger. I dyno'd it shortly after the break in period and got 154.2, we dyno'd again this weekend and are now up to 167.5. I've only spent $900.00 and as more products become available, we'll see how much more I can get this beast, and oh by the way, 186 is a good estimate for top speed on this thing with this gearing, speedo was reading 194 when I ran out of road, lol. |

How much does it cost to get a stock machine into, say Jake Zemke's bike(superbike racer)? And how much horsepower difference is their(stock to race bike)? Manufacturers seemed to go the "win sunday, sell monday" route. Smart move if you ask me. |

Dayyyummmm! TurboBusa!!! You hit 214 on the GPS? That's insane! I was crapping my pants at a GPS proven 201mph on my Nitrous'd ZX12R. Must be nice to have a bike that is so turbo friendly, the ZX12R is anything but. Costs twice as much to fit one on a 12r...that's why most of us go with big bore strokers with NOS. There's and old saying...."At 200mph...you have no friends" I think I just found one! |

Just rode the cbr1000RR for the first time. Power is kinda lazy and tucking is difficult. pretty stable and the brakes are great. How come you always get one guy that asks "who is going to ride these bikes that fast?". The answer is most everyone! Thats why you buy these bikes. If you wanna cruise go buy a harley. If you wanna travel buy a goldwing. Most people can achieve 135 or so in the quarter. Your going to tell me you don't have a one mile straight around anywhere. I reached 176 mph(gps)on a bone stock CBR1000RR(a 2 mile straight downhill). NO ONE is going any faster than that on that bike with that gearing. I was on the rev limiter for the last half mile. I've hit 214 mph on GPS on my turbo hayabusa(gearing limited). |

The Engine Ouput for CBR 1000 RR is officially at 174 BHP. Thus, the true engine output on the rear wheel would be approximately at 150 HP (+/- 5HP depending on temperature/elevation). |

I just purchased my cbr1000rr red on 3-30-04...I love this bike..only complaint is it is very hard to get a tuck...there is more to a bike than top speed..there is comfort, reliability, handling and etc..if your buying a bike just for top speed than you are throwing away your money..what will you do when a faster bike comes out next year run out and get it?..my friend find a bike that is good all around of course that would be a honda..never had a problem built to last...gixer 1000 has a 30,000 mile engine after that its pretty much done. |

| common sense : |
You are all clearly stupid. You are wasting your time complaining about a split hair. What does it matter if it goes 180,184,186,189, or even 194. Either way that is f%$&ing fast. Who actually uses these speeds consistantly anyway? I love to ride but rarely get over 150. And who really cares what gear you get to 189 mph in. Either way the bike won't go much faster. THat just proves that the 6th gear is useless. Grow up, they are all nice bikes!!! |
03.23.04 - 14:40 |
| Anonymous : |
The Busa doesn't do a TRUE 189 in 5th gear, Suzuki 31. The 1999-2000 models which had the 220mph speedo were not 100% accurate at high speeds. No bike is. The Hayabusa reads out 220mph when it's only doing a radar proven 194mph. Don't be fooled by speedo's....they are all off by a lot at those high speeds. My 12R speedo read 190mph when I was only doing 175 on GPS! Either way, no bike should be doing more then 186mph in stock trim if it's 2001 or newer. They have limiters on them that restrict their speed no matter how much power you have. (there are ways around it though) |

i read all of these msgs and i can't believe what i'm reading. if top speed is all that matters to that one gixxer owner well i guess he's got the bike for it. just a little pointer for him the longest stoppie i've ever recorded on a gixxer was about 400'. i consistently go 750-810 on my 929, and by the way your friend with the wobbles on the long wheelies, here in texas we ride them 15 - 20 miles at 55 mph in the wind or rain and get no wobbles, so tell him to slow the thing down and bring it up to the balance point. after seeing this 1000 i think i have to have one, if my wife agrees. |

i am not sure where you guys live, but as far as i know it doesn´t reaaaaally matter if the bike tops 188mph or 191mph...unless you live in germany, where there is no speed limit on the highways (only an hour away from my house in holland!! |

I own a 2003 gixxer1000 and I maxed it out at 189mph. I am 150lbs with gear on. I know I could squeeze 190-192mph out of it because I was not fully tucked... So go figure.... |

Where did you guys find this info on top speeds? Might just be because of Honda's near-perfect gearing (not always best on twisties). |

I own a 2003 gixxer1000 and my riding bud has a cbr954 w/full exhaust and pc3 and my bike tears him a new one consistantly. We even checked top speed which mine maxed out at the speed limiter at 186mph bone stock. I was in the 180 range in fifth gear. My bike feels more refined and smoother than his. Also on long wheelies his tends to wiggle back and forth a little to much for my taste. Stoppies on the gixxer are a breeze, I cant judge for the cbr because my bud doesnt believe in stoppies. |

I have consistanly purchased Honda's (900RR's and 929's) and i have been impresed with the handling and overall performance, but consistanly disappointed with the overall power output. I remember this same hype over the 929 back in 2000 and when i bought the machine and rode it, i found out the "real" horsepower numbers and was disappointed. The next bike was a GSXR 1000, now that's a bike. I would love to come back to Honda, i would sell GSXR in a heartbeat, but this time i will wait and see the "True" horsepower numbers first. |

Keep in mind that the 192mph CBR1000RR was a 215hp SUPERBIKE version. NOT THE FACTORY STOCK. The other ZX-10's,R1's,GSXR1000's were modified as well but not to the extent that the CBR was. The tire test was simply a hype booster. The actual STOCK version numbers will be A LOT SLOWER! |
