A Cop was sitting on the right shoulder of the interstate just in front of my exit with his cherries on but didn't have anyone pulled over. I edged to the left side of the right lane to give him room before I meticulously signaled and exited to the right. I didn't really scrub off speed till it was time to stop at the intersection. Before I stopped I hit my left turn signal. While pulling away from the stop sign I saw that the cop was right on me. He blipped his siren, I pulled over, he jumped out and rushed me like he was going to plow me off my perch. I dismounted as to put the bike between us and he demanded to see my license and insurance. I handed them over and then realized I gave him the insurance card for my other bike, so I traded him for the correct one. He said he pulled me over because I "failed to yield for a stopped emergency vehicle, didn't signal to exit the interstate, went to fast on the off ramp, and improperly displaying of license plate" Confused I asked does the ramp have a speed limit? He replied "no, I guess you can do what you want there. lol. I didn’t pull you over for speeding anyway”. I explained that I just got the bike and my temporary paper license plate got wet and now blows horizontal when I ride. He nodded as he looked at the ragged out temp tag then asked if I ever owned a bike before. Since that apparently wasn't obvious from my 2 insured bikes I explained this is my fifth bike I bought my first 11 years ago. He said we pick you guys up all the time for doing wheelies and flipping your license plates up so we can't read them. I was beginning to see that I was the object of his power trip. Fearing more unjust trouble I didn't contest the turn signal, or failure to yield. He wrote me up for all 3. After making some snide remarks he sent me on my way. What a crook…. |

in fact holland is 1 of the worst places to ride your bike. Police are CRAWLING all over the country, literally LURKING behind vegetation next to the road to laser your way into court, we are forced to put up with unbelievably low speed limits, VERY expensive fines for the smallest violations, and a number of taxes you have to pay for owning a vehicle of which you wouldnt believe how ridiculous they are. Insurance rates are irritatingly high, even if you have ridden 10 years without damage of any kind. Theft rates are high, specially on scooters, and cagers are incomprehensibly inadequate. In short, NL is the last place you want to be when you are a bike enthusiast. I for one am an enthusiast. I have no choice, i cant just move to another country, seeing as young as I am. So ill be forced to resort to a 250cc and actually have a hard time to get me a speed fine:P LoL, so i came up with a plan. the Nurburgring in Germany is like 5 hours of riding away from my house i think, maybe more, so when i at long last get my bike, ill be having frequent trips to that 20mile circuit. I could also move to Assen or Zandvoort for on of the more exciting riding experiences;) Believe me when i say : I cant wait. |
