I had todo the samething and I decided to buy the GSXR 1000. I rode the CBR1000RR and the low speed handeling was no where as smooth as the GSXR 1000. The 750 is nice but the pure horsepower of the 1000 is beyond comparison. It keeps raising up in the first three gears while the honda only lifts up in the first two.I did some research in Cycle World and Super Bike Magazines and then Gsxr 1000 won hands down for the best buy Dollar for Dollar for longevity and durability. That means less time in the shop and more time on the road.

I love my 2004 GSXR 1000. I road it yesterday. This nut at the red light in Dover Delaware was on a fat Bob Harley. He kept revving his engine and smiling at me. Well let me tell you, I wiped that smile off of his face when he raced me to the next light. That piece of junk did not even come close to keeping up with me. Hahahahaha.It was clean with the chrome and all, but performance wise ---- it was so sluggish. I will never own one!!! Way to go Suzuki. |

billy, the PC3 (stage 1, I assume) is nice however the ones I've seen allow only for fuel adjustment (does not allow for ignition adjustment). Best thing to do is put on your race cans (which will help) and see if your gixxer stumbles or bangs when you come in or off the throttle. If it does PC3 is a good idea. If you're feeling crazy they have a PC3r. But you'll only see the benefits of this if your engined is highly tuned or your using some serious racing fuel. Cheers. |

TO every one who things that any car could smoke this bike have fun trying because any one who rides knows damn well that going from 0 to 60 in less then 4 seconds will smoke a car. its the riders capability that makes the bike real fast. my brother took his bike to the drag and installed wheelie bars and ran the 1/4 in 7.93 and for that guy that said his bike smokes 1300s maybe a little kid was riding them becasue the 1300 turbo with the switch out comp lines makes the bike do well over 200 |

The 2003 gas tank spells out suzuki and the 2004 gas tank only has an s on it. 2003 stlye has blue and black colors and 2004 has blue and white colors. Please correct me if I am wrong. |

zx10 there's no such thing as smoking another 1000cc bike. Now there may be riders you can smoke but all these 1000cc bike are too close to be able to smoke each other. Even the new 05 GSX-R 1000cc. It will be faster then most of bikes if not all of them but it still can't smoke another bike. The only way you can smoke a bike is if the other bike has smoke coming out of it. So race bike and prove to us you can smoke any bike out there. |

I have previously owned a Kawa 500R (joke of a bike), a 2003 Hayabusa (totaled when a car pulled out in front of me), and now a 2004 GSXR1000. This one sweet bike! I haven't given it full power since it is in break in, but it has excellent take off and handling. The Busa definitely has more lower end torque, but the 100 lb lower weight is a plus for the GSXR. The finish of the Busa felt higher quality (less stickers, more actual paint, better gauge panel), but both engines are fairly rock solid. I don't expect the GSXR to be smoking a ZX12 or a Busa. With a little help of some laughing gas I expect it to me quite a top speed rocket. |

I had an 03 705 and now I have the 04 1000 and my wife said that the 1000 was more comfortable then the 750. As far as the driver seat I put a gel seat on right away which is really nice. As long as you aren't to short for it you should be fine. Even if you are to short and can lower it a few inches to make it feel better for you. If you compare the rear seat to any other brand the Suzuki seat is about 5 times thicker. All the other brands are about a half an inch thick. My wife and I can ride comfortable for a couple of hours. |

My buddy Harold talked his wife into letting him get a new Yahama R1 since I just got the 2004 Gixxer 1000. Well you know we had to go at it!!! I ate that R1 for lunch both in the quarter mile and in the mile also. As a matter of fact, he gave up half the way through the mile because he was so far behind.n I looked down and saw 189mph and I was still accellerating. I have had my 2004 Gixxer 1000 since July 6th. I did quite a bit of shopping.I only way 140 pounds at 5 feet 8 inches tall. I tried Honda , Kawasaki, Yamaha, and ended up with the 2004 GSXR 1000.This thing is a bullet. I spent my $10,000 wisely.L&D Suzuki in Dover, Delaware really treated me good.I took this monster to 162 mph on its test drive and it got there so fast that I slowed down immediately.I was not even close to the 12.5 thousand red line.Way to go SUZUKI. No wonder it is Bike of the World as well Bike of the year. |

Fred, The smaller the bike the better the cornering ability. The ZX-10R is said to carve corners faster then even any of the liter bikes, it's just not as stable or smooth like the CBR. Yes, it's narrower then the 6R and has the same wheelbase..this is what makes it such a radical track bike. As for it being top dollar, it's worth every penny. Most power, Most torque, Best Power to Weight, Lightest, Shortest Wheelbase, and the Best sounding stock exhaust. Sure, it has no dampener, no undertail exhaust, and it's not the smoothest...but what you get in return is Pure Performance. Kawasaki doesn't buIIshlt around when they do performance...they always have the most power and best numbers. I understand there are tranny troubles, but keep in mind this is a TOTALLY NEW BIKE!! In it's first year there are bound to be glitches. The only company that puts out a flawless first year bike is Honda, Kawasaki would too if they had the Billions to invest like Team Red. How is $10,999 a joke? That's what you'd pay for a Busa or ZX-12R and the 10R is just as powerful with 100lbs less weight and very similar performance at the strip, not to mention stellar performance at the track. As for the GSX-R1000 winning the Daytona 200...Look at why! Ben and Eric had mechanical problems, and Miguel shlt the bed. Maladin lucked out, Trust me if the Ducati didn't take a dump and Ben's pit crew knew what they were doing....Maladin would be 3rd at best. kawasaki doesn't have a Superbike, this is true but did you see the 10R in Superstock with the Hayden bro's? The 10R was passing the R1's in the straights and keeping the lead in the turns up till the last lap. If Nickey didn't F up, the 10R would have placed 1 and 3. The Attack ZX-10R in Supersport took a dump early in the race so we don't know how it would have faired. Let's see how the ZX-RR does in MotoGP. |

Kawasaki wan'ts top dollar for something that's already having transmission problems, doesn't have a steering damper, and to top it off want's $100 more for a seat cowl. As a former ZX9 owner, I waited 2 years for the ZX10 to come-out, their concept is misleading. $10,999 is a joke. I had to go to Suzuki, I get a steering damper, a seat cowl, and a commentment that suzuki is putting good product on the market. Kawasaki didn't have a factory superbike team at the Daytona 200. Just for fun I will add as well as many others that I work at a Kawasaki/Suzuki store and yes both are beautiful bikes however it depends all on the rider if you are under 6ft tall go with the kawasaki taller than go with the gsxr and I have been awaiting to work on the new kawaski zx10 however best of luck to you if you own one the gear ratios were not done well by kawasaki because they took it in their own hands to do the gear box and screwed up badly. Already in their first year and a recall has been placed, not quite what I expected and no its not because they are pushing that very few extra hp its because thats one thing that suzuki didn't help out kawasaki on the research and they got it wrong. Yes you will find the S (suzuki stickers) on many of kawasaki models and that is because suzuki helped them out because they were releasing fat heavy and slow carb bikes where suzuki has claimed the top spot for years. With the recall hopefully the bike will hold up. We are forgeting that suzuki went fuel injected way before kawasaki and without suzuki's help kawasaki would have to stick to four-wheeling. Either or comend both company's on the research. However being in the field suzuki is possibly going back to their concept awhile ago to making the nuda. Yeah thats right 1500-1600 cc bike which is hard to get any information on but all I know so far is it will be almost as light as the 100 and be more powerfull. But what would I know Im only certified in everything other than harley. |

I would have to say that I am glad I bought the 02 version of the GSXR1000. The performance of the new bike is great but it looks like c**p. Oh, I read some of the discussions on HP. DONÂ’T believe the dealer or the factory and have it tested. I can guarantee the R1 does not have 180 at the wheel. They said my 02 had 154hp. I had it tested stock at 138HP. The 02 R1 has nearly 138HP after spending $1500 on an exhaust and power commander. It depends where they test it and at the wheel is the only thing that matters |

I think this year Suzuki did a great job with the 04 body style like the 03 1000s. I really would like to see more color schemes like a dark navy blue solid or burnt dark orange like the 03 limited edition ( only available in Canada ). I too was upset the all white rims are gone,,,but you got to move on. |

nick, don´t know where you are living, but what´s the importance of a topspeed being 285k/h or 305k/h?? unless you are only enjoyed by high speeds, but even a 75 year old can open the gas and wait what happens. having fun on a twisty road is what sportbikes are all about. enjoyed reading the nice story of oleskoolkat and he is absolutely right...90% of the buyers will and cannot fully use the potential of their bikes and the last 10% is where the most differences are, so buy the bike that you find is the best looking and you won´t regret it...i bought the new blade and can´t wait till it will be delivered (in april!!! Im a Suzuki guy myself, but to all the posers out there, educate yourself before you look like an ass. T hose 180 hp #s you read are not only to the crank, but w ram air factored in, and its all a bit inflated. Superbike hype.
Automatically take away approx. 10 or so hp for ram air. Thats not duplicated on a dyno.Then another 10-15 hp loss from crank to rear wheel and you have a fair estimate of Real hp to the wheel.
The new contenders should all fall in the range of 150-155 hp. All right in Gixx 1000 territory. So dont bash any of these machines, because you cant pick a bad machine. There's no such thing. You may have your preference or even nit pick according to what you read, but you all know better. Its ok to stick up for your brand, but just because one bike is quicker & faster on paper or in a test doesnt guarantee the same results once its in your hands.
Those Suzuki fans who bash all the others are just feeling the heat; and thats what makes these superbike wars so good. CBR1000,ZX10 & R1 fans should be real excited too cause its gonna be
a real dogfight. Everyones game just got kicked up again. Oh and Suzuki & Kawasaki did NOT merge; its an alliance
to help each brand fill gaps in their respective lineups, mostly quads and dirtbikes but also a cruiser this year.
Some Kaws can be had as Suzukis and vise versa; BUT NO SPORTBIKES.Not yet at least. Kawasaki does very well on their own.They may not have had anything new in some time, but one thing is they do know how to make a good bike. Enough preaching. If you stayed this far I only have 3 thing left to say; 1.I think Kaw. will be the HP king, Honda the best all around and a real close race everywhere else. 2.We all know how sick the Suzuki is, but remember it will also be the smallest 1000 in the class at only 988cc, everyone else is about 998cc, but lets not forget that the almighty Gixx 1000 breathes through a 750 head. Thats right. In case you didnt know this is fact, among other things. Suzuki says they can easily get 180 reliable HP from their beast, bigger head valves, etc. Whether they do this is another story, but after the dust settles, its nice to know the ASS waxing potential of this beast still lays waiting to bury the competition ALL OVER AGAIN. :) 3. Be real with yourselves fellas, its nice to have the latest & the greatest, but most people who buy these rides wont and cant use the power; period.
Especially on the street, and the track is a whole other world; for those who think they know. Some of you on these threads talk about how great a Gixx 1000 is and you dont even own one. Yes its awesome but speak from experience wannabe. You say you toy w R1s. Doubt it; maybe that rider isnt faster than you, but w equal riders that bike will walk that ole sled of yours like it caught reverse. Remember, youre always fast when you ride alone, and as fast as you think you are, theres always someone faster. Stay alive as fast as you can; when in doubt,GAS IT! |

You are correct that the quality of rider has a lot to do with who gets to the finish line first. However, all else being equal, your 929, though a good motorcycle, cannot compete with a GSXR1000. There can be no argument. |
