Default Firestorm Speedo problem

My speedo still doesn’t work
Ok I have tried what the book says and it didn’t work out! The problem first manifested itself when I had a battery problem in the winter (charged the battery and the Speedo wasn’t working next time out). I got roadside assistance to look at the battery charging side of things. The reason being I had a similar problem on my VFR 800 when the Charger Rectifier didn’t work. However the chap said it was charging ok but suggested nevertheless to get a new battery (the first thing on the check list after fuses, make sure the battery is fully charged). Also that problem resulted in the Taco going down mine works in this case.
I did the continuity checks followed by spinning the back wheel while on a paddock stand checking the voltage at the instrument cluster. If there is a voltage then the system is working up to the Speedo and that is the faulty item.
If not then it is the Speed sensor which was the case for me, however having forked out over £135 for a new sensor has not cured the problem. Has anyone got any other suggestions that my help me track down the fault.
Cheers Steve

I have seen some various Honda Speedos/guages just fail. CBR954 mostly. What year is your bike? the gauges did change in the years

the only time mine acted up was when the regulator/rectifier failed. it was about 2 minutes before the bike totally ran out of power on the battery. measure the voltage at the battery and see if it changes with rpm or not at all. it should have a max of around 14.5V and a min of around 12.5V. my regulator just quit working, but i have seen one that put out too many volts (like 80V) when the rpm's came up. other than that it may just be the guages themselves.
