Default 92 YamaHa FZR600 problems

I just bought a 1992 Yamaha FZR600 and it has been sitting for about 2 years. I took it to a mechanic and he is going to charge me 450 to clean and service the carbs. I would like to know if there is a way of doing the work on your own at a cheaper price. I have to run the bike rich and I would like to service it myself. Please help me

I would call around to some other shops $450 seems quite high just to clean the carbs.[:]DUNNO[/:]

That's about double the going rate. Not too difficult to accomplish yourself. Spend $11 on a manual, get a cheap air compressor for $200, buy some carb-cleaner & go nuts. You'll have it done in less than a day....then you can fill up your own tires & clean your own carbs from now on. Tell that guy to get stuffed!

P.S. Keep posting, and I'll walk you through it. It's pretty easy.

in addition to the last post you recieved . i suggest when you go to clean the jets you use a single stand of wire from a wire brush, or a tourch tip cleaning tool is also a great tool to use. just remember not to force a cleaner thats too big, it will effect the performance. and count the turns and mark the possition on the carb adjustment screws for the mixture. e mail me if you have any questions
